The MSAV Online MS Support Group: Connecting and Learning Virtually

The MSAV Online MS Support Group has its roots in the Daytime MS Support Group Meeting, which was founded in 2015. Recognizing the need for a more accessible meeting time for individuals who faced challenges attending evening gatherings due to transportation, fatigue, or needing assistance, the day group was established to be more inclusive. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the group transitioned to meeting online via Zoom, expanding its reach even further. They currently meet on the second Tuesday of each month.

The primary goal of the day group was to create a supportive space for individuals who could only attend daytime meetings, ensuring that more people could connect with the MS community. Additionally, there was a desire to alleviate the high attendance numbers at the evening meetings, offering a more comfortable and manageable environment for all.

Now meeting virtually, the Online MS Support Group offers a valuable platform for connection and learning. Meetings alternate between informative sessions on various MS-related topics and open discussions where members can share their unique experiences and challenges of living with a chronic illness.
